Winners of the 2018 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Trophy gathered today at TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) in Cologne to pick up their prizes and celebrate a successful season in the GT86 racing or rally cars.

Hermann Gassner Jr, first winner of the all-new TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Trophy, not only collected a cheque for €35,000, he was also awarded with a brand-new TOYOTA C-HR from Toyota Germany. The hybrid-powered crossover sat next to a GT86 CS-R3, a similar car to the one that Hermann campaigned this year in the German Rally Championship and WRC Rally Deutschland.

“Brody” came from Belgium to Cologne to pick up two cheques, one for himself and one for his VLN team-mate Jacques Derenne who finished equal second in the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Trophy in a GT86 CS-Cup car. Both went home with €22,500 each.

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Trophy prize Giving was not only worth the trip for the top finishers. All invited guests got a tour around the TMG factory which included visits to the wind tunnel, the R&D department and the LMP1 chassis workshop, the birthplace of the Le Mans-winning TS050 HYBRID.

During their tour, the Trophy participants also encountered a surprise visit by Alex Wurz and Kamui Kobayashi who have both played a major role in TOYOTA’s successful LMP1 programme for several years.
