TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) will return to the Tour European Rally Series (TER) with a GT86 CS-R3 car to take on the challenge of Rallye Liezen on 29-30 September.

The CS-R3 has a perfect record on TER events, having dominated the two-wheel-drive class on Transilvania Rally in May and TMG expects to continue that winning habit in Austria.

Italian driver Luca Rossetti and co-driver Eleanora Mori will again be behind the wheel of the CS-R3 as part of TMG’s ongoing development work on the car.

The GT86 CS-R3, developed for customers by TMG, has established itself as a front runner in the competitive two-wheel-drive and R3 categories on national and European championships.

Luca will build on the work done at several events this year to further fine-tune the enhanced CS-R3 car, which has benefited from engine upgrades to improve torque, modified gear ratios, a new Milltek Sport exhaust system and reduced weight.

Recent customer activity with CS-R3 cars saw Hermann Gassner Jr finish the German round of the FIA World Rally Championship as the top R3 and second-placed two-wheel-drive competitor, while ACI Team Italia took a class podium on Barum Rally Zlin, a round of the European Rally Championship, last weekend.

Emanuele Battisti, Customer Motorsport Project Leader: “The CS-R3 has shown its strong performance on several events recently, and not only with Luca at the wheel. We were really encouraged to see Hermann’s fantastic result on Rallye Deutschland, which confirmed on a World Championship stage the speed shown by the CS-R3 on other events earlier in the year. On Rallye Liezen our target is clearly to be the fastest R3 and two-wheel-drive car; this is a realistic aim and we will give our all to achieve it.”
