Double glory in Watkins Glen and podium finishes in Suzuka and Assen for the GR Supra GT4

Last weekend, the GR Supra GT4 continued to build on its track record with two GT4 America wins and second places in both the Super Taikyu Series and the DTM Trophy. A TOYOTA GT86 CS-Cup win in Sweden rounded off a strong race weekend for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s customer teams.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Germany scored its third DTM Trophy podium with Nico Verdonck finishing Saturday’s race at the TT Circuit Assen in second place after starting from the front row. Due to this success, the Belgian had to add 18 kilograms of weight to his GR Supra GT4 for Sunday’s session. As a result, the 35-year-old dropped back from fourth on the grid to finish the race in seventh place. After ten of 14 races Nico is fourth in the championship.

At her home race, Stéphane Kox, driving the second Ring Racing-entered GR Supra GT4, achieved her best qualifying results of the season. The Dutchwoman set the 13th fastest lap on Saturday followed by P8 in Sunday’s qualifying session, her first top ten position of the year. In the race, however, the 27-year-old’s strong performance went unrewarded. After collisions through no fault of her own she finished 14th and 17th.

Smooge Racing continues winning streak in GT4 America
Smooge Racing dominated the Am class at the GT4 America event at Watkins Glen. John Geesbreght and Kevin Conway, who share cockpit duties in the #68 GR Supra GT4, won both races. With this brilliant success and class wins number five and six from ten races, the driver duo further extended their championship lead.

Pole position and second place for CSI Racing in the Super Taikyu Series
CSI Racing’s GR Supra GT4 finished the five-hour Super Taikyu Series race at Suzuka in second place in the highly competitive ST-Z class, after setting the pole position one day earlier. Future GPX Cyber Formula Racing with RFC also shone by setting the fastest race lap and finished fourth in class. Hayashi Telempu Shade Racing drove to sixth on the 5.807 km Grand Prix circuit. Rookie Racing, meanwhile, competed in the ST-Q class and scored its fifth consecutive class win with the GR Supra GT4.

TOYOTA GT86 CS-Cup wins in Sweden
In the Swedish Touring Endurance Championship (STEC), Team H&H Racing put in a strong performance with the TOYOTA GT86 CS-Cup. Reigning TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Trophy champion Alec Arho-Havrén and his team-mates Ortwin Herterich and Nils-Arne Holmudden secured pole position, set the fastest race lap and won the four-hour race in Sviestad in commanding fashion.
