Let’s start practice and qualifying…
After the Test Day, TOYOTA Racing will be back on track this afternoon with the practice and first qualifying session for the Le Mans 24 Hours 2012. The two TS030 HYBRIDs will be in action with Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima in car #7; Stéphane Sarrazin, Anthony Davidson and Sébastien Buemi will be at the wheel of #8.
The whole team was able to soak up the Le Mans atmosphere at this beginning of the week, including during the traditional scrutineering in the city centre on Monday. At the end of the day, the two cars and drivers were welcomed by fans for the technical and administrative checks. Drivers also met the press, before the group photo; the first one for a TOYOTA team in Le Mans centre since 1999.
If Tuesday seems to be a quiet day, it is in fact very busy. The mechanics spent the day finalising the preparation of the car, while the drivers attended an ACO briefing. The drivers of car #8 then made a lap with the Yamaha EC-03 electric scooter, followed by Eurosport. Thay finished it with a friendly race – they are racing drivers after all! After a further meeting with the media, drivers met the fans during a 90-minute autograph session. Even considering rain, supporters were there in force and TOYOTA Racing’s drivers were one of the most in-demand.
After a live interview for Eurosport, drivers of car #7 took part in a pit-stop training to end the day. Car #8 will do its pit stop training today around lunchtime. Then, it will be finally time to go on track, for the practice and the first qualifying.
