Two GT86 CS-R3 cars will compete in the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) next month on Polish tarmac for Rally Rzeszow on 3-5 August aiming for another class victory.

The GT86 CS-R3, developed for customers by TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG), has already established itself as a front runner in the competitive two-wheel-drive and R3 categories, confirmed when Luca Rossetti dominated both classes in the recent Transilvania Rally.

Italian driver Luca and co-driver Eleanora Mori will be behind the wheel of the TMG GT86 CS-R3 again in Poland, returning to the European Rally Championship he won three times.

Luca will build on the work done in Romania to further develop the enhanced CS-R3 car, which has benefited from engine upgrades to improve torque, modified gear ratios, a new Milltek Sport exhaust system and reduced weight.

Joining the TMG car at Rally Rzeszow is another CS-R3, entered by ACI Team Italia. This exciting project, set-up by the Automobile Club d’Italia and Motorsport Italia, is intended to promote young Italian rally talent.

Luca Botarrelli is the first driver to benefit from the ACI Team Italia project, on Rally Rzeszow. Further entires will follow on Barum Rally with Riccardo Canzain and on Rally Roma Capitale with Gianandrea Pisani.

Emanuele Battisti, Customer Motorsport Project Leader: “It’s great to see two GT86 CS-R3 cars competing in Rally Rzeszow and it’s particularly satisfying that the new ACI Team Italia project will use a CS-R3 to promote young talent. We wish ACI Team Italia and Motorsport Italia all the best with this new programme. After winning our class on the Transilvania Rally earlier this year, clearly we expect to be a front runner again with our updated car.”
