TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Germany and the GR Supra GT4 made a mark with strong performances during the team’s guest appearance in the ADAC GT4 Germany. The #90 Supra was among the top five cars in all free practice and qualifying sessions.
Nico Verdonck started Saturday’s race from fifth on the 32-car grid, but improved quickly and took the lead with some impressive overtaking. Thus the GR Supra GT4 collected its first lead kilometres in its first ADAC GT4 Germany race.
Nico was leading the race when he stopped in the pits for the mandatory driver change to his team-mate and compatriot Antoine Potty. The stop, however, was quicker than the minimum pit stop time. As a result, Antoine had to take a drive-through penalty dropping him to third. After 30 thrilling laps, the 18-year-old saw the chequered flag in third place. But due to an infringement during Full Course Yellow, he received another penalty and was only classified eleventh.
In the second race, the GR Supra GT4 started from second and was again among the leaders and aiming for a podium. Due to yet another penalty, Nico and Antoine again lost valuable ground and finished fifth.
