Last weekend, the 2021 endurance racing season kicked off with the iconic Daytona 24 Hours and the four-hour IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge support race marked the US debut of the GR Supra GT4, a car that already has won championship laurels in Europe and Japan in 2020.
Riley Motorsports entered one car under the banner of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Latin America and driven by Costa Rican Javier Quiros, Dominican Alfredo Najri and Argentinean Julian Santero. The team showed an impressive race pace, starting from 19th on the grid and storming through the field. In the latter stages, with Julian Santero at the wheel, the GR Supra GT4 was even leading the race due to a different pit stop strategy.
In the end, after 104 laps and four hours of wheel-to-wheel racing, the GR Supra GT4 finished seventh overall among 41 cars that started the race.
