TMG GT86 Cup race 7: A tough highlight for the season

At six hours long, the ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen on 23 August is the highlight of the TMG GT86 Cup season and the popular VLN series in which it runs. A normal four-hour race on the demanding Nürburgring Nordschleife is a tough challenge for the teams, drivers and equipment. This time, however, the cars and drivers have to show their mettle for two additional hours; a real challenge in the ’green hell’.

In only its second year, the attractive TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) competition – Europe’s only dedicated competition for the GT86 – has already become a fixture in the VLN. The TMG GT86 CS-V3 race car is close to production but dynamic and very quick around the Nordschleife, earning great popularity among the fans at the track. The TMG GT86 Cup participants also give positive feedback for a car which laps the daunting track in under 10 minutes but can be pushed to the limit by professional and amateur drivers alike.

This weekend’s seventh race of the Cup race will see siblings Sarah and Nigel Moore (Vantage Motorsport) try to build on their three wins so far). Jutta Beisiegel, Ralf Goral and Pawel Ledwon, Team Leutheuser Racing & Events, will certainly not give up the lead in the standings, which they claimed in race six, without a fight.

Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: “The ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen with its six hours poses a real challenge for the TMG GT86 Cup participants. Concentration and fitness among all team members and drivers aside, a dependable race car is necessary if you want to be successful. When developing the GT86 CS-V3 we didn’t make any compromises in terms of safety and stability in particular. All our Cup participants have a car that can withstand such stress but motorsport is unpredictable. So our staff will again bring their service truck and provide the best possible technical support.”
