TMG United looking for young talents for VLN 2016

A passion for motorsports, much enthusiasm and great team spirit are what characterises the TMG United team in the VLN since 2013. And this season, this unusual team, made up of TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) staff in Cologne, will again take part in this popular endurance championship and is looking for young talented drivers.

The members of TMG United come from various divisions of TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH and only work on this project in their spare time. Their car is a close-to-production TMG GT86 CS-V3, used in the VLN class V3 (production cars of up to  2000 cm3). This year, the regular driver will be Christian Scherer (27). The master mechatronics fitter from Bad Neuenahr was one of the two winners emerging from last year’s driver selection process. “Driving the CS-V3 on the Nordschleife was real fun. I was able to achieve ever faster lap times and look forward to use my experiences for TMG United once again this season,“ Scherer says. And now, interested talents can apply for the other place in the TMG GT86 CS-V3.

“All we’re expecting is that the new driver shares our passion for motorsports and really wants to join our excellent team,” says Martin Duke. The 50-year-old American is TMG’s Senior Project Coordinator for the LMP1 project in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). In his spare time, he is the TMG United team’s manager in the VLN. No fewer than eight races are on the agenda this season. Over the past three years, the team won once per season in the V3 class, and in season 2015 it came close three more times. “Two class wins in one season: well, we didn’t quite get there last year. This year, we’ll try again!“ Duke says.

And that’s how the TMG driver selection works: download the application documents here, complete and e-mail them to no later than by 14 March 2016.

The young talent has to be at least 18 years of age but no older than 28. He or she must have Nordschleife experience (minimum 10 races), at least Nordschleife licence B and a good command of the English language. Selected candidates will be interviewed on Nürburgring on 19 March.
