TMG United, the team made up of TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG) volunteers, is ready to race the familiar GT86 CS-Cup car for its seventh season, with a major target in mind.

Over the winter, the team decided to take on the challenge of the Nürburgring 24 Hours for only the second time. In preparation for this, TMG United will also take part in the first two VLN races of the 2019 season. As in 2018, Adrian Brusius and Alex Fielenbach will serve as regular drivers. They will be joined by two others pilots for the 24-hour race but these will be announced at a later date.

Despite being only 21 years old, Adrian Brusius has intense Nordschleife experience. In 2018, he won the junior category of the RCN, another Nürburgring-based race series, at the wheel of a TOYOTA GT86 claiming victory at five of eight championship rounds. By winning the title, Brusius followed into the footsteps of Alex Fielenbach, 26, who won the junior and the overall RCN title two years earlier, also driving a TOYOTA GT86.

“We are happy to continue with the TMG United project in 2019,” says Jörg Mertin who will share team manager duties with his TMG colleague Andre Haun. “Last year, we decided to take the challenge for our very first 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. It was an intense and very demanding event before, during and after the race. Nevertheless, we want to take again the chance and fight for the SP3 class win in the toughest race in the world.”

While race successes like the class win in last year’s VLN 2 race might be the icing on the cake for the two dozen TMG United members, the main target of the employees’ team is to give staff who are not regularly involved in TMG’s on-track activities the chance to explore and experience the spirit of motorsport first hand.

The TMG United project is supported with a modest budget by TMG, but all work related to the project is performed on a voluntary basis outside regular working hours. This requires a lot of enthusiasm and dedication from all team members involved.
